What to Order

  • Samgyeopsal (pork belly) — the thick-cut version here is exceptional, with perfect half-fat half-lean ratio
  • Galbi-bone attached samgyeopsal (본삼겹) — the signature cut at 19,000₩, sourced directly from YBD breed farms
  • Yeonkkok-moksal (neck collar) — dipped in maldon salt, prepared the house specialty way

The Samgyeopsal That Made BTS Come Back to Sindang-dong

Five years of Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition. A loyal celebrity following. And a wait that'll test your patience on weekends. Geumdwaeji Sikdang (금돼지식당) earns every single minute of it.

What to Expect

This is Korean BBQ — but not the kind you've probably seen in photos where you grill it yourself. At Geumdwaeji Sikdang, the staff handles everything. They cook the meat right at your table, slice it at the right moment, and guide you through exactly how to eat each cut. Think of it as tableside service with some serious expertise behind it.

The star is the pork belly with the rib bone still attached (bone-in samgyeopsal, called bon-samgyeopsal). The pork comes from a dedicated farm raising a specific breed — YBD — which is why the fat-to-meat ratio hits differently here compared to your average samgyeopsal spot. Instead of a thick dipping sauce, you're eating this with Maldon sea salt. That's it. And it works because the pork is good enough not to need anything else.

First time eating samgyeopsal? Here's the move: a slice of grilled pork, wrapped in a lettuce leaf with a bit of garlic and maybe some fermented kimchi on the side. One bite. You'll get it immediately.

What to Order

Bone-in pork belly (bon-samgyeopsal) — 19,000 KRW per serving. This is the signature. Rib bone attached, grilled over charcoal, eaten with Maldon salt. Don't skip this one.

Snow-patterned pork neck (nunkkot-moksal). The marbling on this cut is striking — it looks almost like a cross-section of wagyu. It's leaner than the belly but still has enough fat to stay juicy. Also eaten with salt. Let the staff cook it for you and trust their timing.

The set menu (if available). Some reviewers have tried a set that rotates through three different cuts. If it's on the board when you visit, it's a great way to compare all three textures in one sitting — the belly's richness, the neck's chew, the cheek meat's leanness.

The kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew) is spicy — genuinely spicy, not tourist-menu spicy. Worth ordering if you run hot, but fair warning given.

Atmosphere & Vibe

It's not a sleek spot. The space is functional — clean, well-run, but not designed for Instagram. What it does have is energy. Tables turn quickly, the staff moves with purpose, and you'll likely be eating shoulder-to-shoulder with Korean families, couples, and the occasional celebrity (GD has reportedly been a regular). The pace can feel fast once the meat starts coming, so don't be surprised if dinner is done in 45 minutes. That's normal here.

What People Are Saying

"Went here for the first time with my best friend and it was worth it. The quality of the meat is on a different level compared to regular samgyeopsal I’ve tried before. Each cut was tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The staff grills everything for you and even teaches you how to eat it the right way, pairing the meat with veggies, side dishes, and dips. The balance of flavors was amazing. You can really tell it’s high-quality pork. Service was excellent, and the place felt cozy and clean. Price was surprisingly cheap for the quality of the food. for the taste and experience, totally worth it. I’d definitely come back. We arrived at 10:30 am and had breakfast at coffee & juice beside it and took a number . We were the first bwtch called. If yoi arrive midday, line will be very long"

"This was a place I had wanted to visit for a while. I went a little after 12 p.m. on Sunday. You scan the QR code at the entrance, and when your turn comes, you get notified by email or text. That day, I was contacted after about an hour and a half. I recommend the set menu that lets you try three different cuts of meat. Each person is required to place at least one order, except for preschool-aged children. The staff carefully cooks the meat for you. The Pork Neck had just the right amount of fat, and with just salt you could really enjoy the flavor of the meat. The signature Pork Belly was surprisingly light, not heavy at all, and tasted fantastic with the grilled basil. The Pork Cheek Meat had a nice chew, and I really liked the leaner cut with less fat. The Kimchi Jjigae was a little spicy for me, but I think people who like spicy food would enjoy it. I’d definitely like to visit again. I spent the waiting time at Shilla Duty Free. Dongdaemun is also within walking distance."

"Great experience and loved it. The pork cuts are perfect - half fat and half lean. The servers cook the meat perfectly for you and their pairings are super tasty. It's definitely a speedy dinner since they cook it all at once, so it can feel a bit like a race while you're eating. Long wait for sure though so definitely go early and put your name down and come back as you have to enter the waitlist in person!"
